It all began in the 1970s with the purchase of a small plot of vineyard by Giuseppe Sedilesu and his wife Grazia, in order to produce wine for family use and for a small sale of bulk wine. At the beginning of 2000 their three sons took over the business and decided to bottle their Cannonau for the first time. The first label created was given the name “Mamuthone” in honor of the traditional mask of Mamoiada, an important cultural heritage that has its roots in the ancient rites of rural populations.

The Giuseppe Sedilesu winery, family-run, is located in the town of Mamoiada, a small village in Barbagia in the center of Sardinia. At altitudes from 600 meters upwards (at the foot of Gennargentu), on granite weathering soils, the Sedilesu family cultivates approximately 20 hectares of Cannonau and (in a small part) Granatza vineyards, traditionally trained with low saplings. Mamoiada has a long winemaking history as it is an ideal habitat for these varieties. The wines of the Sedilesu winery, mainly differentiated by the age of the vineyards, are pure Cannonau and Granatza, all from spontaneous fermentations. The practices in the vineyard and cellar are still strongly linked to tradition today, very essential and in full respect of biodiversity and environmental balance. The philosophy is aimed at creating wines whose characteristics are always attributable to their land of origin, Mamoiada. The company today is led by Salvatore Sedilesu and his daughters and sons.

We offer a rich and in-depth sensorial experience to discover our Cannonau and Granazza wines, typical of the Mamoiada area. The welcome includes a visit to the cellar and various tasting itineraries. We also offer the possibility of accompanying our wines with a varied selection of cured meats and cheeses, carefully selected from small local producers. For those who want to learn about the land and the environment in which our grapes are grown, we organize guided tours of our vineyards. Our cellar has a small room for more private tastings and a large conference room created with the aim of offering a welcoming and functional space to host and organize cultural events, conferences, meetings and ceremonies
